What about Acts of the Apostles where all the wealth is held in common and when a man withholds his wealth and is accused of doing so by Peter he falls down dead? (Acts 5:1)
Of course these chumps will have some wacky explanation for what is explicitly a commune.
Fascinating stuff. One big thing is those early Christians with their primitive communism weren't planning a state, they were trying to withdraw from the world altogether, as monks and nuns and such still do. The interesting thing about the ancient Hebrews is that they were really doing government for a country, indeed a country with immigrants and non-Jews in it, for whom they made provisions.
But far closer to socialism than what happens when Christians start getting into state government, with Emperor Constantine in the early 4th century. Christians have never paid any attention to that part of the Bible. Christian politics is always authoritarian, and even inside a monastery.

Yes, it’s not socialism.

TRUE.
I suppose I am being a little bit unfair to the Diggers and the Ranters and so on.
Also the Quakers.
Point the first: What is Mark Twain doing in that Sullivan painting?
And on to point the deuce: I went to Sully's site but found no likeness of the three-handed mother of god. Guess he isn't courting the Ruskis.
I did something wrong in 2012 https://nomoremister.blogspot.com/2024/04/the-media-is-exalting-trump-by-telling.html, or somebody at the link changed something since then. There's a couple of great Loaves and Fishes pictures at that address now, incl one by Tintoretto, but Sullivan is gone.
