I still remember my shock when in high school American History (about 1958) I encountered the textbook's list of AJ's achievements, which included creating the Spoils System. WTF, as I did not say at the time. I thought that was an obviously terrible thing, so why's it being treated so respectfully?
If it was supposed to be cryptically sarcastic, it was lost on me, and certainly on all my classmates. Later I learned about the Very Important Historian who had revived or created the Jackson cult, some of whose work I'd read by that time, and it seemed respectable. I still don't get it.
Yes I do believe so. Funny that I could have forgotten it, but my mind doesn't do names very well. I still don't know how he came to that conclusion, but I'm glad to see that Jackson is now, it seems, pretty much deposed from the Democratic Party's panthen.

It almost doesn't matter whether Trump wins or loses, they're setting the stage for the next Republican President. True, Trump would do more damage than any otehr option, but the Republican Party will give their President as much power as he or she wants.
