Like Trump, the system Netenyahu runs was designed to protect people like him, and other branches of government meant to act as a check on egregious behavior are hamstrung by ideological obsctruction in a conspiracy to hold on to power. Both our governmemts were built on the assumption that the elites running them had a vested interest in a stable society. This is no longer the case, and any solution is going to be from outside of our institutions.

I'm a lifelong democrat and liberal and will continue to be so for the rest of my life, barring something completely unforeseen. that said, positions like these that we have taken regarding Israel and Gaza make it easy to understand why many people do not differentiate between the two major parties in the US. what will Trump do that will significantly differ from the Biden administration's actions? only perhaps that a letter like the one from October will not even be contemplated.

we may proclaim to be a democracy, but what is that, if we all so morally bankrupt?

I don’t know if you’ve read my evidence-based reconstruction of what Biden actually did, as opposed to the conventional words he irritated us by uttering. It’s my conviction that he engineered the November ceasefire and prisoner exchange, came very close to negotiating a permanent ceasefire, release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners, and implementation of a Palestinian state, correctly concluded after continual Netanyahu sabotage that further holds on arms deliveries would not stop the killing or even slow it down, and did his best to help the only plausible candidate, Benny Gantz, replace Netanyahu as PM so the two-state solution could be implemented. In the last he certainly failed, because of Gantz’s irresolution and cowardice, but it was an incredibly good try.
