I guess the Congresscritters aided in the confabulation while talking to already disgruntled families. I can imagine having your child be the last casualty always has to burn. That Biden was "disrespectful" is very dubious, since he has reportedly always shown the utmost kindness to grieving people even in private. Especially since he knows the grief of losing children.
I said this at the boss' other joint, bit I believe it bears repeating. This is classic Karl Rove, attack your opponent on his strong points (in this case, empathy for greiving parents) by finding someone plausible to repeat your lies. It might not have been a primary motivator or goal, but they sure worked it. I doubt the parents had to be paid, they just needed some authority figures to repeat a story about whose fault it was they were willing and needed to believe. Once that was done, getting them to believe a story about Biden being "disrespectful" would be a piece of cake, being concrete justification for their resentment they can point to.
They were at the meetings they're talking about. To the extent it's lies (I know it's at least somewhat), they're active participants, not just passively acquiescing.
Yeah, didn't mean to imply they were victims. They were on-board, but needed a nudge to commit to focus the blame more specifically. Once you feel the power of the Dark Side, "remembering" disrespect becomes a lot easier. "Recovered memories" are an obvious example, but its really just human nature to find a coping mechanism, and if someone you respect hands you one, who are you to say no?
hard to find the right words. misery loves company. these so-called PTB are miserable, cheap, tawdry people, and their chief reward in life seems to be successfully encouraging other people to be their worst selves at a time when they are most vulnerable and manipulable. they aren't even allowed the catharsis of proper grieving, since the propagated anger that consumes them prevents any rational resolution.
I hate that you're making me do this, but this isn't about Trump. Other candidates, DeSantis, Cruz, Cotton, more, would have gone along as well (Haley might have drawn a line, but she has no chance in 2028 unless MAGA is purged from the party). This is the current Republican Party. This is what they are, what they believe, what they will do. And its going to get a lot worse. There's a straight line from the cynicism of the Southern Strategy to the 2 Minute Hate of the Contract With America to this. They have bet the farm and their firstborn male child on gaming the system to hold power, and they will use any tool they can find to do that. Things like legality and morality are inoperative, to quote that American philosopher Ron Zeigler.
Republicans had Biden utterly screwed on the Afghanistan withdrawal - you rarely see a more masterful piece of ratfucking. Joe could call it off and listen to them scream about him being a warmonger for continuing a war THEY started, or go through with it and risk it turning into the shitstorm it became. He made the choice that got us out of that mess. Yeah, it’s terrible some people lost their lives, but isn’t that how this “war” stuff is supposed to work? You sacrifice a few to save the many.
It’s really a shame the families are choosing to drag the memories of their fallen relatives through the mud like this.

Everything about Trump is as ugly as it gets, or or becomes so when he gets near it.

I'm hip. Trump is the sign/symptom...not the root cause of it all.
I was hep when it was hip to be hep.
You're hip, but not weird
Like I notice you don't wear a beard
An incredible story.
I haven't seen anything about this story even approaching this level of detail and quality. Thanks boss.
