Americans don't seem to be motivated to get up off their couches by ideology, or even ideas. Asking them to protest in the name of a President most of them don't remember is a heavy lift. If your focus is motivating apathetic Americans with ideals, you're gonna need a real good argument no one has come up with yet. The Capra appeals to American ideals got buried in the desert sometime in the 50's, idealism is a niche luxury these days. Most Americans don't want to be inspired, they want to be comforted.

"Vote Jimmy! Vote Jimmy!"

I went to the Mall yesterday to see what's up at the Capitol. Not much if you don't count the miles of fencing west all the way past the Art Museum (closed anyway because weather). It's there for a couple weeks to come (til past the 20th). So I could not get close to the place where I watched American democracy commit suicide 4 years ago.

All that to say that on the way there I exited Union Station and walked across Columbus Circle, with its 50+ flags round the border. All at half-staff. Was the most moving thing I witnessed yesterday.
