I am sadly coming around to the view that what is going on is that the Broligarchs like Musk are on a drug-fuelled mission to burn down the country so they can erect their Glorious Technocratic Utopia in it's place, somehow, and Trump's all in because he's a drooling moron who thinks that if we just go back to the 1890's we will ll be Great Again, and has literally no one around him this time to say no to avery idiotic thing that burbles up out of his rancid cespool of a brain.

Like everything around the Rdpublican party, there's no 1 explanation that covers their actions. The noisy tech bro billionaires are high on their mythology, yes. The rest see an economic downturn as a buying opportunity. Devalued asstes are still assets, and what goes down can go up, or be sold for parts and a tax writeoff.

I remain of the unpopular opinion that Trump is not a drooling idiot. People underestimating has been good for his career and income. I believe crackpot economists and supergenius billionaires have convinced Trump that tarrifs are magic and free money that will spur the rebirth of American manufacturing. This is a story that plays perfectly to Trump's very limited understanding and interest in "the economy", the complex network of systems and relationships that generate wealth. They also work as one of Trump's favorite negotiating tactics, the threat, to create his favorite negotiating environment, chaos caused by him.

I think the offer should be: Nothing. Not even the gaming license.

If they want any D votes for a CR, the precondition has to be, DOGE ceases to exist and its activities come to a complete halt, and the Administration immediately honors all orders to free up the funds authorized by Congress that DOGE purported to "save."

Prosecuting the DOGE wrongdoers is not going to be on the table for now, so remain silent on that point in the hope that the opportunity comes up in future years. But they should all be hit over and over with million-pound shithammers. Musk in particular should be left with a giant smoking hole in the Earth where his future used to be.

Roy Cohn's 3 Rules of Success:

1: Never apologize

2: Never surrender

3: Fight, fight, fight!

Trump will gay marry Dr. Fauchi before abandoning these rules. Musk is the most valuable asset Trump haxever owned, you think hes going to give it up for a lousy budget, let alone a CR? He will simply issue an EO ordering bills to be re-negotiated.

That phrase "come together in a bipartisan way" seems designed to trigger every liberal who wants to see Democratic politicians set their hair on fire on TV to demonstrate how Serious this all is. There's probably a huge Democratic argument going on over what is gettable from Republicans. I can't see Trump giving up anything for a lousy CR, he'd just issue an EO ordering bills to be paid anyway, maybe out of the Strafegic BitCoin Reserve.

Here in Colorado I called my Democratic senators who said watch for public announcements on their position very soon, although they hadn't stated any position on the so-called CR. My rep is also firmly against the GOP games, as she had to bring her newborn infant to DC to vote against the GOP's budget resolution. I think they are ready for what happens next.

I hope so. I have little faith in the ability of the Dem Leadership to grow a spine.

You can say Democrats can't get much worse, but it seems Republicans always can. There is no bottom.

Republicans don't think they're falling, they think they're flying.
